Halsey does not have time for people who have a problem with her natural hair. Saturday, the 23-year-old singer posted a new photo on Instagram.
The biracial pop artist captioned the image, “New growth, new growth; all these fades I outgrew.” Some critics did not like the picture and found ways to make fun of the New Jersey native.
Halsey, whose real name is Ashley Frangipane, hit back on Twitter by writing, “I can’t believe I spent a whole damn year growing out my curls under those wigs for you all to say my natural hair looks like a wig… some fucked up shit lmao.”

This is not the first time that Halsey has addressed what she is dealing with when it comes to her natural hair. She once wrote in a now-deleted tweet, “I can’t use this perfumed watered down white people shampoo. How can u have lived our entire life without knowing that people of color and white people require different hair care products.”
Halsey’s tweets about her hair tend to open big conversations about race. A few commenters believe that she is making a big deal of something that is not because she is more white than black.
One person stated, “Her pops is half white half black, and her moms is white she is basically white with a little bit of black lol.”
However, she also has defenders. A supporter added, “Halsey, you’re hair is very beautiful, ignore the negativity.”
Halsey is an interesting voice in the entertainment industry.
